Ensure your Redshift clusters are not exposed over the internet

Ensure that your redshift clusters are not exposed to the internet to limit potential data leakage. This is considered a security best practice and should always be done. Ensuring this is enabled will help with NIST, HIPPA, GDPR and PCI-DSS compliance.

Audit & Remediation

 

 

  • Select the Cluster hyperlink for the database cluster you would like to check.
  • Under Properties scroll down to Network and security and look under Publicly accessible to see if this is set to Yes.
  • If Publicly accessible is currently set to Yes then select the Edit hyperlink located next to the Publicly accessible label.

 

 

  • Under Publicly accessible select No, then select the Confirm button.

 

 

  • Repeat the outlined steps for each Redshift clusters that you have.
